ROYSE CITY -- Cobbie Johnson won another event on Wednesday for the Greenville Lions but his bid to capture the high point award for the District 13-4A track and field meet ended with a hamstring injury.

Johnson, who captured the triple jump on Tuesday with a leap of 45 feet 9 1/4 inches, claimed the long jump on Wednesday at 20-11 3/4 though passing on his final two attempts.

Genesis Stephenson, who finished second to Johnson in the triple jump, also took second to his Greenville teammate in the long jump at 20-8 3/4.

Johnson was in contention for his third gold medal of the meet but the senior pulled up midway through the 200-meter dash finals and had to be helped off the track. He was later treated for an injury to his right hamstring, hobbling off from the training area on crutches.

Johnson and Stephenson both qualified for the Region II-4A meet on May 2-3 at Fouts Field in Denton.

Johnson, Stephenson, Tobias Nelson and Alfred Champion also qualified for regional with a third-place finish in the 4x200 relay. They clocked a time of 1:30.72. Sulphur Springs won at 1:27.32 and Texas High took second with a 1:27.65.

Greenville wound up scoring 55 points to finish fifth of the seven teams in the varsity boys division. Texas High of Texarkana took the title with 181 points. Sulphur Springs was second with 142, followed by Royse City (91) and Mount Pleasant (84).

Mackenzie Cooper's sixth-place finish in the shot put on Tuesday provided the only point for the Lady Lions, who finished seventh in the team standings behind Texas High (211), Sherman (115), Denison (109), Sulphur Springs (87), Mount Pleasant (59) and Royse City (38).

Royse City's Bulldogs picked up victories on Wednesday from Ulisses Lopez in the boys 800 (2:00.33) and Matt Rich in the 110-meter hurdles (15.28).
