Greenville swimmer earns return trip to state meet

SOUTHLAKE -- Greenville swimmer Kelsea Vance finished second in the 100-yard backstroke and third in the 100-yard butterfly at the Region III-4A meet this weekend to earn a trip back to the state swim meet.
Vance was third in the 100-yard butterfly behind Hannah Ferrin of Highland Park (58.19) and Amber Jenkins of Frisco (59.69). Vance, who swam a 59.70 in the preliminaries, clocked a 1:00.23 in the finals.
Vance was a close second to Ferrin in the 100-yard backstroke with a 59.66 time. Ferrin clocked a 59.63. Vance swam a 1:00.06 time in the preliminaries.
The University Interscholastic League State Swimming and Diving Championships are set for Feb. 27-28 in Austin.
