Two GHS lifters win weight classes at Royse City meet

ROYSE CITY -- Alfred Champion and Brittany Lee Davis won their
respective weight classes to lead the Greenville lifters on
Saturday at the Royse City Invitational powerlifting meet.
Champion captured the boys 132-pound class with his total of
955 pounds that included best lifts of 365 in the squat, 215
in the bench press and 375 on the deadlift.
Davis claimed the girls 220-plus pound division with her total
of 830 that included a 355 in the squat, 160 on the bench
press and 315 in the deadlift.
The Greenville Lions wound up ninth of 17 teams with 10
points. Justin Northwest, with three wins in different weight
classes, took the boys title with 29 points, followed by South
Garland (21), Sachse (21), Denison (21), Forney (17), Mesquite
Horn (16) and host Royse City (15).
Royse City picked up seconds from Matt Cortez in the 198s
(1,285 total) and Jose Ramirez in the 242s (1,315).
Forney won the girls team title with 49 points followed by
Weatherford (34), Wills Point (33), Royse City (21),
Greenville (12), North Gorney (10) and Wylie East (3).
Jayci Nelson of Royse City won the girls 132-pound class with
her total of 610.
Shatoya McMillian of Greenville was second in the 123s with a
560.
Alysia Arriaga of Weatherford claimed the top lifter award for
the girls light platform (97-165) and Lauren Hartwick from
Forney took the girls outstanding lifter award for the heavy
platform (181-220+).
Joey Silva from Sachse took the outstanding lifter award for
the boys light platform (114-165) and Rishaad Wimbley from
Forney captured the top award for the heavy platform
(181-superheavyweight).
