After spending most of their time in the classroom this week with TAKS tests, the Greenville Lions will hit the baseball field tonight in Denison as they head to the end of their District 13-4A schedule.

The Lions, who are 11-13-1 for the season and 3-7 in district play, will face the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. and then will play at Sherman on Saturday. Those two games will complete Greenville's district schedule.

The Lions have caught fire late in the season, winning four of their last five games. They blanked Royse City 13-0 in their last outing on April 22, getting a one-hitter from senior right-hander Miguel Saavedra. Saavedra struck out seven and did not walk a batter. Mitchell Venhaus, who tripled in the third inning, was Royse City's only baserunner.

Chase Wofford led the Lions at the plate with three runs batted in. Also hitting safely for the Lions were Blake Taylor, Jeff Prigmore, Sawyer Harmon and Douglas Skinner.

Denison beat the Lions 13-0 in Greenville on April 1.
