Friday night remains as home night for the Greenville Lions in baseball and Lady Lions in softball.

Both teams are back at home for District 13-4A action tonight after playing Monday night on the road.

The 9-12-1 Lions will entertain Sulphur Springs in 13-4A baseball at 7:30 at John Mason Field.

The 9-12 Lady Lions will also entertain Sulphur Springs in 13-4A softball at 6:30 at Monty Stratton Field.

The Lions are hoping their bats stay alive for a rematch against Sulphur Springs, which beat them 5-3 at Sulphur Springs on March 22. Greenville scored nine runs in the sixth inning for a 10-5 non-district home win over Little Elm on Saturday and then picked up their first district win by a 9-5 margin over Mount Pleasant on Monday.

Dustin Wofford picked up the mound win against Mount Pleasant with relief help from Miguel Saavedra. Greenville is now 1-6 in district play.

Sulphur Springs is 6-2 in district play after nipping Sherman 9-8 in 10 innings on Monday night. Kris Ford drove in the game-winning run with a double, according to a report in the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram.

The Lady Lions are 1-7 in district play following a 7-1 loss at Mount Pleasant on Monday night.

"The girls played as a team and never quit," said Lady Lions coach Jennifer Rickman. "Except for one inning, we played even with them."

Sidney Tippit led the Lady Lions at the plate with a pair of hits.

The Lady Lions lost 10-4 at Sulphur Springs on March 22 as the Lady Wildcats capitalized on 14 hits and seven Greenville errors.
