MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant handed the Greenville Lady Lions a 7-1 District 13-4A softball loss on Monday night.

Sidney Tippit had two hits to lead the Lady Lions and Arian Alford had a single.

Rachael Cook, who took the mound loss, gave up eight hits and three earned runs while striking out three.

"The girls played as a team and never quit," said Lady Lions coach Jennifer Rickman. "Except for one inning, we played even with them."

The Lady Lions dropped to 9-12 for the season and 1-7 in district play. They will next entertain Sulphur Springs on Friday, with the junior varsity game starting at 5 p.m. and the varsity contest following at 6:30.
