Lady Lions earn top 19-4A soccer honors

Three players who helped the Greenville Lady Lions to the District 19-4A soccer championship earned top honors on the all-district team.

Greenville sophomore Maddy Crabtree shared most valuable player honors with Sulphur Springs junior Lucy Laro. Crabtree led the 16-6 Lady Lions this season with 21 goals and also added four assists.

Stephany Luna of Greenville earned the defensive player of the year award. Luna scored two goals and had three assists.

Greenville freshman Carol Twilley shared the newcomer of the year award with Sulphur Springs freshman Maddison Ramirez. Twilley recorded one goal and three assists.

Three more Lady Lions made the first team including Bailey Phillips, Katelynn Twilley and Julia Hernandez. Phillips managed three goals and six assists. Twilley had eight goals and eight assists. Hernandez finished with 13 goals and four assists.

Sandra Zaquez, Emmaline Hollingsworth, Jennifer Martinez and Lindsey Carter of Greenville earned second-team honors.

Morgan Flippen of runner-up Paris earned the offensive player of the year award.

The top midfielder award went to Chele Naudin of Princeton.
