Still looking for their first District 13-4A victories are the Greenville Lions and Lady Lions, who'll face Denison in a pair of district baseball and softball games this evening.

The 7-10-1 Lions, who are 0-4 in district play, will travel to Denison to take on the 9-13 Yellow Jackets at 7:30 tonight. Denison is 1-3 in district play following a 7-2 loss to arch rival Sherman on Wednesday. The Lions dropped their last game, 15-11, at Royse City on Tuesday.

The 8-10 Lady Lions, who are 0-6 in district play, will entertain 13-13 Denison at 6 p.m. at Monty Stratton Field. The Lady Lions dropped a 2-0 decision on Tuesday to Royse City. Royse City's ace Alicia Pille fired a one-hitter while striking out 19. Rachael Cook managed Greenville's only hit.

Cook, who took the loss, struck out eight and did not walk a batter.

Lady Lions coach Jennifer Rickman said she was very proud of how her team played against state-ranked Royse City.

"They played as a team, worked hard and never gave up," she said. "A coach can't ask for more than that."

Denison is 1-5 in district play following a 7-3 loss to Sherman.

Justin Koger and Miguel Saavedra led the Lions at the plate against Denison with doubles.
