Texas High cruises past Greenville Lions

The Texas High Tigers of Texarkana improved to 3-1 in District 13-4A baseball with a 13-1 victory over the Greenville Lions at John Mason Field Friday.
The visiting Tigers scored seven runs on six hits in the top of the first inning and were never threatened.
Greenville, however, counted with a run in the bottom of the first as Miguel Saavedra blasted a home run over the left centerfield wall to make it 7-1.
The Lions however would not get another hit until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Michael Riskey doubled. Greenville could not bring Riskey in.
Texas High scored three runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning, as well as two runs on two hits in the top of the fifth.
Tiger leftfielder J.R. Lacy was a thorn in the Lions side as he went 3-for-3 with four runs batted in. Peyton Stover, the Tiger designated hitter, drove in three runs for the Tigers, while Lewis Patterson the Texas High catcher drove in two runs.
Ryan Fant was the winning pitcher for the Tigers, while Andy Whorton took the loss for the Lions. Fant struck out ten for Texas High while walking only three.
Greenville falls to 0-3 in District 13-4A play, and will play at Royse City on Tuesday.
The Greenville JV fell 14-0 to Texas High earlier Friday afternoon.
