Texas High beats Lady Lions in extra innings

Texas High of Texarkana needed extra innings to outscore the Greenville Lady Lions 11-8 in District 13-4A softball on Friday.

Greenville rallied from an 8-5 deficit to send the game into extra innings with three runs in the seventh.

"The girls played very well tonight," said Lady Lions coach Jennifer Rickman. "We hit the ball well. We played with enthusiasm.

"The errors and stranded runners hurt us tonight but the girls played hard and it was an exciting game. I am very proud of them for playing as a team."

Arian Alford went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Lady Lions, which also collected three hits each from Rachael Cook, Sidney Tippit and Ashley Walden. Cook homered and Walden doubled.
