Lions qualify two for state powerlifting meet

LINDALE -- Two Greenville Lions lifters earned berths in the state powerlifting meet with their performances at the Region 3, Division I meet on Saturday.

Alfred Champion is advancing in the 132-pound class after placing second with his total of 1,015 pounds. Champion lifted 410 in the squat, 220 in the bench and 385 in the deadlift.

Austin Martin is headed to state in the 165-pound class after grabbing second with a 1,205 total. Martin handled 500 in the squats, 280 in the bench and 425 in the deadlift.

Christian Aguirre of Greenville was fourth in the 132s with an 855 total.

Chasen Lambe was fifth in the 220s at 1,230.

Greenville stacked up 16 points to finish fourth in the team standings behind Waxahachie (37), Marshall (26) and Sulphur Springs (20).
