With high school students taking TAKS tests this week, today's athletic schedule will be lighter than normal for a Tuesday in the Greenville area.

Both Greenville High School varsity soccer teams are off tonight.

The Greenville Lions' baseball team will entertain Richardson Pearce at 7 tonight at John Mason Field, while the junior varsity travels to Richardson to play the Pearce JV. That's a switch from the original schedule, caused in part by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) testing.

The Greenville Lady Lions' softball team will entertain Wills Point in a softball doubleheader at Monty Stratton Field, starting with the junior varsity at 5 followed by the varsity at 6:30.

Greenville's Lady Lions are 3-4 for the season after winning their last game 20-4 over Quinlan Ford last Tuesday. Ali Threndyle was 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs to lead the Lady Lions, who also collected two hits from Chelsea Rigsby and Vanessa Rico and one each from Rachael Cook, Sidney Tippit and Katie Threndyle.

Cook, who took the mound win, struck out four while allowing seven hits and one walk.

Wills Point beat Dallas Skyline 4-1 in the Carrollton/Farmersville Branch ISD tournament last weekend but lost 5-0 to Lake Dallas. The Lady Tigers have also lost 11-0 to Frisco and 10-0 to Hebron.

The Lions are facing a Pearce team that was a district rival for the two previous seasons in District 10-4A. The Mustangs are still in 10-4A while the Lions switched to District 13-4A.

Pearce has beaten Frisco Heritage 11-1 and Prosper 3-0.
