Cooper earns first-team 13-4A honors

Sophomore Mackenzie Cooper was called on this basketball season to do a little bit of everything for the Greenville Lady Lions.

Cooper played guard and post at times for the Lady Lions, ranking among the team's leaders in scoring, rebounding and assists.

Cooper's versatility helped her earn first-team honors on the All-District 13-4A team.

Two Lady Lions earned second-team honors: senior Ashley Abbott and junior Aubrey Tucker. Abbott was one of the Lady Lions' top rebounders and scorers. Tucker was the team's top outside shooter.

Greenville sophomore Arian Alford made the honorable mention list.

Player of the year honors in 13-4A went to junior Reagan Humphrey from district runner-up Sulphur Springs.

Sherman junior Jada Bennett captured offensive player of the year honors.

The top defensive honor went to Mount Pleasant junior Titanna Shine.

Sulphur Springs freshman Destiny Wade was the newcomer of the year.

Sherman's Monticee Williams shared the coach of the year award with Jeff Chapman of Sulphur Springs.

Royse City put sophomores Syndie Erbie and Krystal Pickron on the first team along with junior DezAray Gardner.

Senior Jennifer Null and junior Nina Gaines of Royse City made the second team.
