The Greenville Lady Lions completed the first half of District 19-4A soccer play undefeated with a 9-0 blanking of Anna on Tuesday at T.A. "Cotton" Ford Stadium in Greenville.

Greenville scored five goals in the first half and four during the final 40 minutes to go 5-0 in district play and 12-3 for the season. The Lady Lions have outscored their district opponents by a 23-1 margin and their season opponents, 50-8.

"We had eight players score," said Lady Lions coach Ryan Dunlevy. "Everybody shared the scoring. We played with class."

"This is a good way to start the second half (of district play). Ended the first half on a positive note," he said.

Priscilla Carrillo scored the game's first goal, her seventh of the season, with 33:14 left in the first half.

Katelyn Twilley made it 2-0 with 31:50 left before the half, scoring off an assist from Julia Hernandez.

Maddy Crabtree scored unassisted at the 31:14 mark, upping her team-high total to 18 goals for the season.

Meg Lawson scored the first of her two goals with 24:12 left in the first half.

Brinkley Henson then scored the first goal of her varsity career with 3:57 left before halftime after getting set up by Carol Twilley.

Lawson scored her second goal with 36:05 left in the match off an assist from Carrillo.

Julia Hernandez made it 7-0 with 20:57 left after receiving a pass from Katelyn Twilley. It was Hernandez's 10th goal of the season and Twilley's fifth assist.

Sandra Zaquez upped the count to 8-0, scoring on a penalty kick with 8:50 remaining after Hinkley was fouled. Meredith Nichols of Anna was injured on that play and left the game on golf cart, receiving treatment in the ankle area.

Lindsey Carter wrapped up scoring with 9:50 left off an assist from Zaquez.

Greenville kept the ball at Anna's end for most of the match though Greenville goalkeeper Jenny Hardaway recovered three saves. Hardaway was recently promoted from the junior varsity.

"She did a great job of keeping the shutout in her first varsity start," said Dunlevy.

The Lady Lions will return to district play on Friday at Sulphur Springs.
