Greenville powerlifting meet set for today

Fifteen teams are set to compete in the Greenville powerlifting meet today at the GHS gymnasium.
The lifting starts at 8:30 a.m. as boys and girls compete in squats, bench press and deadlift.
Teams expected include Rockwall-Heath, Wylie, Boles, Quinlan Ford, Forney, Mesquite Poteet, Farmersville, Caddo Mills, Celeste, Commerce, Royse City, Community, South Garland, Wylie East and host Greenville.
Greenville won both the girls and boys team titles on Jan. 29 in Lone Oak.
Brittany Lee Davis, Sheila Crowder, Chandler Bigby and Shay McMillian won their weight classes to lead the Lady Lions to the Lone Oak team title. Lone Oak outpointed runner-up Royse City, 46-27. Davis took the 220-plus pound class with her total of 845 pounds for the three lifts. Crowder won the 165s with a 675 total. Bigby won in 132s at 545 and McMillian took the 114-pound class with a 580 total.
Dearius Mitchell won the 123s to help the Lions claim the boys team title at Lone Oak by a 29-27 margin over Royse City. Mitchell totaled 795 points. |
