Greenville will close out the 2010-11 basketball season tonight when the Lions entertain Sherman.
The District 13-4A tripleheader is to start at 5 with the freshman contest, followed by the junior varsity and varsity.
The Lions are 7-22 for the season and 3-8 in district play after falling 44-41 to Denison on Friday night at Denison.
"We played hard and played behind all night," said Lions coach Marcus Smith. "We didn't come with the total focus that we needed. We missed layups and jump shots with two minutes left in the game. This has been a learning process for us this year and we will use this year and build on it for next year. We have one game left and we will play hard until the end."
Sawyer Harmon led the Lions against Denison with 12 points and Dartanon Wilson added 10.
Daniel Batey topped Denison and all scorers with 21 points.
Sherman is 11-19 overall and 4-7 in district play following a 53-39 loss at Royse City on Saturday. The Bearcats have to beat Greenville and have Royse City lose to Sulphur Springs tonight to force a playoff for the fourth playoff berth in 13-4A.
Greenville won at Sherman, 55-51, back on Jan. 21. The Lions took charge early in that game, leading 17-7 after the first quarter. Harmon led the Lions with 14 points and Marquise Taylor added 10.
Qualin Hayden led Sherman and all scorers with 26 points. |
