George Gomez banked in 12 points, while Joseph Beck chipped in 10 to lead the Royse City Bulldogs to a 58-47 win over the Greenville Lions Tuesday at the Lions Den.
Shane Sellers and Kenneth Neal each poured in 11 points for Greenville, which fell to 3-6 in district play and is probably out of the playoff picture.
Royse City raised its record to 4-5 in district play and could be in the hunt for a playoff spot.
"Tonight mentally we weren't in the game the whole time," said Greenville head coach Marcus Smith. "A lot of our players were battling cold and flu tonight. We kept fighting back, but couldn't get over the hump tonight. GHS boys basketball coaches and players appreciate all the support from the GISD administration, teachers, staff, parents, students, and fans. I'm proud of my guys for never giving up and kept playing hard."
Royse City outscored Greenville 14-10 in the first quarter, then outscored the Lions 13-9 in the second to have a 27-19 halftime advantage.
The Bulldogs outscored the Lions 16-13 in the third quarter to increase their lead to 43-32 after three quarters.
After a 15-15 standoff in the fourth quarter Royse City led the Lions Den with the 58-47 victory. |
