Lions bounce back past Sherman

SHERMAN -- Greenville's Lions bounced back from a disappointing loss to Denison to down the Sherman Bearcats 55-51 on Friday in District 13-4A play.
"Very big win," said Greenville coach Marcus Smith, whose Lions improved to 2-4 in district play.
Smith said the Lions started off aggressively as they built a 17-7 lead in the first quarter.
"They made a few runs and we finished it off," he said.
Sawyer Harmon tossed in 14 points to lead the Lions and Marquise Taylor added 10.
Qualin Hayden fired in 26 points to lead Sherman and all scorers.
Greenville will enjoy an open date on Tuesday before resuming district play on Friday at Mount Pleasant.
