Jon Bassett's 3-pointer with 0:01 left lifted the Denison Yellow Jackets to a 56-53 victory over the Greenville Lions Tuesday at the Lions Den. Dartanon Wilson for Greenville scored with 10 seconds left in the game to tie things up at 53 apiece before Bassett hit the game-winner.

"We played hard tonight," said Greenville head coach Marcus Smith. "In the fourth quarter we did a better job of taking care of the ball. We left their shooters open too many times in the fourth quarter. We had crucial turnovers in the last two minutes."

Austin Ross banked in 20 points to lead Denison and hit three 3-point baskets, while Bassett pumped in 13 points. Daniel Batey tallied 11 for the Yellow Jackets.

Sawyer Harmon chipped in 12 for Greenville and hit two 3-point baskets, while Oshay Carter and Ladarrien Davis tallied 10 for the Lions.

Greenville led for much of the evening, twice by 12 points at 44-32 and 46-34 with 6:05 remaining.

But the visitors from Denison kept coming back behind Ross and Bassett, these two were really a thorn in the Lions' side.

After a 9-7 first quarter in which Greenville led, the Lions outscored Denison 16-12 in the second to grab a 25-19 halftime advantage.

The Lions kept up the pressure in the third quarter outscoring the Yellow Jackets 19-13 to lead 44-32 after three.

But in the fourth quarter the Yellow Jackets outscored Greenville 24-9 to pull out the victory.
