Lady Lions reach soccer tourney finals

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Greenville's run to the finals of the Mount Pleasant soccer tournament ended with a 1-0 loss to host Mount Pleasant in a shootout on Saturday.

The host Tigers outscored Greenville in the shootout after the two teams battled to a 0-0 tie in regulation.

Greenville made the finals with a 3-0 victory over Marshall earlier on Saturday.

Julia Hernandez scored twice and Maddy Crabtree scored once for the Lady Lions. Lindsey Carter also had an assist.

Lady Lions also whipped Forney 5-1 on Friday.

Crabtree scored two goals to lead the Lady Lions, who picked up single goals from Emma Hollingsworth, Meg Lawson and Priscilla Carrillo.

Crabtree, Carillo, Hollingsworth, Bailey Phillips and Katelyn Twilley had assists.
