SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Greenville battled back from a 16-10 deficit in the first quarter to claim a 67-45 District 13-4A victory over Sulphur Springs on Friday.

"Very big win," said Lions coach Marcus Smith. "Put us right in the thick of things. We're 1-1 and have a great chance to make some noise in the district this year. We played great tonight. We played as a team. Main thing was our effort was at the highest."

Freshman Oshay Carter scored a season-high 16 points to lead the Lions, who also collected 13 points from Ladarrien Davis and 11 from Sawyer Harmon.

Alvin Frazier topped the Wildcats with 12 points, Duke Johnson added 11 and Terrance Wheat chipped in 10.
