Lady Lions overtake R.L. Turner, 36-21

Greenville's Lady Lions rallied from a 10-7 halftime deficit to beat R.L. Turner 36-21 in non-district basketball on Tuesday night in the Lions Den.

Greenville scored just one point in the first quarter but 22 in the fourth quarter to up its season record to 5-9.

"We're trying to get better and see what works best for us," said Lady Lions coach Lesa Darst. "We're young and trying to find our way."

Shanterria Riley and Mackenzie Cooper both pumped in nine points also to lead the Lady Lions and LaBrandi Mayberry tallied eight.

Rebekah Carrera chipped in eight for Turner and Angela Nguyen tallied six.

The Greenville Lady Lions went on a 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter on baskets by Mackenzie Cooper, Mayberry and Arian Alford. Rebekah Carrera finally made a free throw for Turner to break the Greenville scoring run with 5:47 left in the game.

Cooper finished with a team-high 13 rebounds for the Lady Lions and Estefanie Morales had eight.

Cooper, Morales and Shanterria Riley handed out three assists apiece.

Morales and Riley led in steals with three each.
