Lady Lions go 1-1 in Quinlan

QUINLAN -- Greenville's Lady Lions split in two games at the Quinlan Ford tournament on Thursday.

LaBrandi Mayberry banked in 11 points, while Mackenzie Cooper pumped in 10 to lead the Lady Lions to a 37-36 win over Ferris in Greenville's first game in the tournament.

Abrone chipped in 14 points in a losing effort for the Yellowjackets.

In the Lady Lions' second game, Arian Alford pumped in 10 points, while Shanterria Riley banked in 10 as the Lady Lions dropped a double-overtime game to the Maypearl Panthers, 49-43.

Wilson and Prewitt eached tallied 13 for the Maypearl Panthers.

The rebounding leaders for Greenville against Maypearl were Ashley Abbott with 14, Cooper with eight and Mayberry with 7. Riley led the Lady Lions in steals with six.

The Lady Lions, now 2-2 for the season, will play Scurry-Rosser at 11:20 a.m. and host Quinlan Ford at 3:20 p.m. today at the Quinlan tournament.
