Lady Lions fall to Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Greenville's Lady Lions dropped their regular season finale in volleyball, 25-18, 25-20, 25-20 to Mount Pleasant on Tuesday.

The Lady Lions, now 18-16 for the season, are assured of a playoff berth after finishing third in the District 13-4A race with a 7-5 mark. They'll face Longview Pine Tree in a bi-district playoff match. The site and date are yet to be determined.

Greenville coach Melissa Anderson credited the victorious Lady Tigers.

"They played harder," she said. "They had less mistakes."

Emelie Kilgore led the Lady Lions with 10 kills, five blocks, four digs and an ace.

Shanterria Riley managed three kills, 17 assists and three blocks.

Jenny Hardaway tallied three kills to go with three digs.

MacKenzie Cooper added five blocks.

Ellen Robins served for four aces.

LaBrandi Mayberry put away four kills.

Jennifer Martinez produced six digs.

Maddy Crabtree had two kills.

Greenville's junior varsity won, 25-16, 26-24.

Mount Pleasant took the freshman contest, 14-25, 25-23, 25-20.
