Greenville gets aggressive, beats Sulphur Springs

SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Coach Melissa Anderson had asked the Lady Lions varsity volleyball players to get more aggressive, and they did Friday night on the road, beating Sulphur Springs 25-22, 25-16, 25-17.
"The kids played a lot better and passed the ball and were more aggressive," she said. "That was what we needed."
Greenville is now 5-3 in district and 15-15 on the season.
Labrandi Mayberry had five kills and two blocks. MacKenzie Cooper added three kills and three blocks. Shanterria Riley had 23 assists, and Emelie Kilgore had three aces, 13 kills and four blocks.
After losing the first game, the junior varsity won the match, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16.
The freshman team won, 25-13, 25-15.
Sherman will visit the Lady Lions Den Tuesday, for games beginning at 5 p.m. |
