Greenville drops district match to Denison

DENISON -- Denison stayed in a tie with Royse City for first place in the District 13-4A volleyball race with a 25-16, 19-25, 25-22, 25-21 victory over Greenville on Tuesday night.
"We've got to play more aggressive," said Greenville coach Melissa Anderson, whose Lady Lions dropped to 14-15 for the season and 4-3 in district play. "They're hitting at us and we want to chip it to them."
Anderson said playing smart doesn't mean playing cautiously.
Emelie Kilgore led the Lady Lions with nine kills and three service aces.
MacKenzie Cooper finished with six kills and six blocks.
Maygan Bloyed added four kills and Jenny Hardaway had five kills.
Shanterria Riley set for 16 assists.
Denison improved to 19-13 for the season and 6-1 in district to remain tied for the lead with Royse City, which downed Mount Pleasant, 25-12, 25-11, 25-20 on Tuesday night.
Greenville's junior varsity lost, 14-25, 25-18, 25-22.
Denison also took the freshman contest, 25-12, 25-19. |
