Lady Lions split in season opener

Greenville’s Lady Lions opened the 2010 volleyball season on Tuesday by splitting two matches at Princeton.
The Lady Lions lost to host Princeton, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14.
Emelie Kilgore had two kills and two blocks for the Lady Lions, Shanterria Riley managed five assists and two kills, Mackenzie Cooper tallied five kills and four blocks, Ashley Walden added three assists and two aces and Maddy Crabtree produced seven digs.
The Lady Lions beat Caddo Mills, 25-19, 25-14, 16-25, 25-15.
Kilgore added four kills and three aces, Riley had nine assists, Cooper tallied nine kills, Maygan Bloyed added five kills, Ashley Walden finished with six assists and three aces and Maddy Crabtree chipped in nine digs.
Princeton won the junior varsity match, 25-19, 19-25, 18-16, and Caddo Mills took the junior varsity contest, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23.
Greenville’s freshmen captured both their matches.
The Lady Lions’ varsity, directed by new head coach Melissa Anderson, plays at Terrell on Friday.
The Lady Lions’ junior varsity and freshmen will compete on Saturday in a tournament at Kaufman.
