Pearce pounds out win over Lions

GREENVILLE -- The J.J. Pearce Mustangs pounded out nine hits
on the way to a 11-2 District 10-4A baseball victory over the
Greenville Lions on Friday at John Mason Field.
The Lions honored seniors N.J. Mason, Brad Ratliff, Rafael
Sanchez and Ethan Hackney in pre-game ceremonies.
The visiting Mustangs got things started in the first inning
when Casey Lane singled, stole second and third and scored
when Sean Noland bounced out to Greenville first baseman Zak
Edgerton.
The Mustangs scored three runs in the top of the second as
Casey Lowe and Kendall Henkes had RBIs for Pearce.
Greenville answered with a run in the bottom of the second as
Chase Wofford singled, Sawyer Harmon doubled and then Rafael
Sanchez singled to score Wofford.
The visitors then pretty much put the game away in the top of
the third inning, sending nine batters to the plate and
scoring four runs to grab an 8-1 advantage.
Greenville got a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as
Mikey Riskey scored from third on a single by Chance Rodgers.
Greenville fell to 4-18-1 overall and 1-13 in district. Pearce
raises its records to 13-10 and 6-7.
