GREENVILLE -- Though she’ll be leaving the state of Texas, Greenville senior Morgan Bloyed will feel somewhat at home when she plays volleyball next season for Northern Oklahoma College.

Her mother, Sandy Bloyed, is from Oklahoma and she has some cousins that live near Enid, where Northern Oklahoma College is located.

Bloyed has signed a letter of intent with the Jets. She’ll play her regular position, setter.

“That’s my position,” said Bloyed, with a smile. “I own the court.”

Setter is perhaps the most important position on a volleyball court because that’s the player who sends most of the sets for the hitters to spike.

Bloyed set for 279 assists in District 10-4A play to earn first-team all-district honors. She also finished district play with 61 kills, 65 digs, 14 blocks and 22 aces.

“I think that she’s a very talented athlete that will take our progam to a level where we want to go, to the national championship,” said Megan O’Connell, head volleyball coach at Northern.

O’Connell said Bloyed should fit in well with the other players.

“I think that she’ll be fine with all the girls,” she said. “The girls are excited about her.

Bloyed has been playing volleyball since the seventh grade and with the Dallas Summit club team since her eighth grade season.
