PARIS, Texas -- The Greenville Lady Lions stayed undefeated in
District 20-4A soccer after outscoring Paris in an overtime
shootout on Tuesday.
The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie in regulation. Greenville
downed Paris 3-2 in the shootout as Bailey Phillips, Emma
Hollingsworth and Brenda Hernandez scored in the shootout for
Greenville.
Greenville is now 6-3-1 for the season and 2-0-1 in district
play.
“It wasn’t the best game in the world,” said Lady Lions coach
Ron Beck. “The field was soft and mushy. Not a great control
game. Paris did a good job of staying in the game. We missed
scoring opportunities.”
Ellen Robins and Emelie Kilgore took turns at goalkeeper to
register the shutout in regulation. Sandra Zaquez played
goalkeeper in the shootout.
The Lady Lions will return to district play at home on Friday
against Princeton, starting with the junior varsity at 5:30
p.m.
