Lindsey Carter scored with 16:30 left in the first half for
the Greenville Lady Lions’ only goal in a 1-0 non-district
soccer victory over Denison on Tuesday night.
Katelynn Twilley started off the goal with a crossing pass to
Meg Lawson, who then flicked the ball over to Carter.
Greenville goalkeepers Ellen Robins and Emelie Kilgore both
saved shots as Greenville held an 11-4 advantage in shots on
goal.
The Lady Lions’ defense played well, according to Greenville
coach Ron Beck.
“We had a lot of opportunities,” he said. “We had a lot of
shots that weren’t on goal.”
Greenville squared its season record at 3-3.
The Lady Lions will return to action at home on Friday against
Fort Worth Eastern Hills in a 7 p.m. contest. There will be no
junior varsity match.
Greenville’s junior varsity lost 5-0 to Denison’s juniors.
