Al Lasker fired in 15 points, while Randall Joyner pumped in
12 to lead the Newman Smith Trojans to a 64-42 victory over
the Greenville Lions at the Lions Den Friday.
Newman Smith is now 19-9 overall, 9-0 in District 10-4A play.
Greenville falls to 11-15 overall, 5-4 in district play.
Devonte Green banked in 19 points for Greenville. Alton Dennis
tallied six.
The Lions led for much of the early going, building a 14-10
advantage before the first quarter ended.
Newman Smith rallied in the second quarter to tie the game
26-26 at the half.
The visiting Trojans took control in the second half,
outscoring the Lions 22-12 and 16-4 over the last two periods.
“We had too many turnovers, combined with poor shooting and
good defense,” said Lions coach Earl Clairborne. “We’ll go
back to work on Monday and hopefully we’ll have a better
result on Tuesday at R.L. Turner.”
