Lady Lions beat Newman Smith

CARROLLTON -- Greenville’s Lady Lions stayed in contention for
a playoff spot in District 10-4A with a 52-45 overtime victory
over Newman Smith of Carrollton on Friday.
Mackenzie Cooper hit a 3-pointer for Greenville to send the
game into overtime at 43-43 and then the Lady Lions outscored
Newman Smith 9-2 in the overtime period to up their district
record to 6-5 and season mark to 15-10. The Lady Lions were
tied with Royse City for fourth place in the district
standings heading into this game. The top four teams from
10-4A will advance to the playoffs.
Freshman Maddy Crabtree led the Lady Lions and all scorers
with 23 points to go with six steals.
Olivia Carter chipped in nine points for the Lady Lions, plus
produced 13 rebounds and four steals.
Ke’Arra Davis added eight points and had seven rebounds.
Cooper and Shanterria Riley both tallied six points. Riley
added six steals and Cooper had six rebounds, eight assists
and three steals.
Rani Hadley led Newman Smith with 12 points.
