Greenville beats Sulphur Springs

Olivia Carter banked in 28 points to lead the Greenville Lady
Lions to a 59-34 win over Sulphur Springs in varsity girls
basketball action here Monday night.
Freshman Maddy Crabtree pumped in 11 points for Greenville.
The Lady Lions started out fast, scoring the first eight
points of the game on baskets by Carter, Crabtree and Sha’kia
Whetstone. Crabtree and Carter both hit free throws in the 8-0
opening blitz.
“Our free throw shooting was better tonight than it was in the
Quinlan tournament,” said Lady Lions coach David Sanders.
Greenville led 24-6 after the first quarter.
Then in the second quarter the Lady Lions outscored Sulphur
Springs 14-7 to lead 38-13 at halftime.
In the third quarter the Lady Lions outscored the Lady
Wildcats 12-9 to put the game away.
Kayla Phillips chipped in 10 points for Sulphur Springs.
Ashanti Ivery added nine points and Reagan Humphrey tossed in
eight for the visiting Lady Wildcats, who fell to 0-5 on the
season.
Sha’kia Whetsone tallied eight for Greenville, while Ashley
Abbott had six.
Greenville is now 6-1 on the season. The Lady Lions finished
second recently in the Quinlan tournament.
