Lady Lions travel down interstate for match

Greenville’s Lady Lions will bring a 4-5 District 10-4A record
into their volleyball match tonight at Rockwall.
Scheduled game times are at 5:30 p.m. for the freshmen and
junior varsity followed at 6:30 for the varsity.
The Lady Lions took Friday’s match over Royse City, 25-20,
25-17, 25-27, 25-21, to complete a sweep over the Lady
Bulldogs. They also beat Royse City 25-7, 23-25, 22-25, 25-12,
15-11 at Greenville on Sept. 15.
Morgan Bloyed led the Lady Lions in the second match against
Royse City in both kills (10) and assists (16). Bloyed also
added nine digs on defense and served for two aces.
Meghan Litchfield was next for the Lady Lions with eight kills
to go with 10 assists, two blocks and 12 digs.
Ashley Abbott put away seven kills and had three blocks.
Emelie Kilgore added six kills, five digs, four blocks and two
aces.
Hannah Johnson tallied four kills to go with eight digs.
Shanterria Riley led the Lady Lions’ defense with 25 digs and
also served for two aces.
Freshman Maddy Crabtree managed 21 digs and two aces.
Heather Johnson had 10 digs and freshman Maygan Bloyed added
six digs, two kills and six aces.
Royse City won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-22.
Greenville took the freshman contest, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17.
Rockwall is 6-3 in district play, including a 25-16, 25-18,
25-20 win at Greenville on Sept. 18.
