Lady Lions fall to No. 1 state-ranked Lady Mustangs

GREENVILLE -- The No. 1 state-ranked J.J. Pearce Lady Mustangs of Richardson defeated the Greenville Lady Lions 25-10, 25-7, 25-7 to win the volleyball match at the Lions Den Tuesday night.

Pearce, ranked No. 1 by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, stayed undefeated in District 10-4A play at 8-0.

The Lady Lions dropped to 3-5 with their second loss to Pearce in district play. They also lost 25-5, 25-11, 25-17 at Pearce on Sept. 11.

Maygan Bloyed led the Lady Lions in kills in the rematch with four. Meghan Litchfield was next with three kills, followed by Emelie Kilgore and Hannah Johnson with two kills each.

Morgan Bloyed led the Lady Lions with six assists.

Morgan Bloyed and Ashley Abbott both had one block each.

Pearce got some key hits from Shelby Sullivan, Stephanie Holland, Elyse Burkett and Elizabeth Wingate. Katie O’Brien and Sophie Orlich were two more standouts for the Lady Mustangs.

J.J. Pearce also won the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-9.

The Lady Mustangs took the freshman A match as well, 25-17, 25-16.
