Lady Lions beat Newman Smith

CARROLLTON -- Greenville’s Lady Lions squared their District
10-4A volleyball record at 2-2 with a 25-22, 22-25, 25-20,
25-21 victory over Newman Smith on Tuesday.
“We really needed this win for district,” said Lady Lions
coach JoAnna Vaden. “The girls played really well and played
scrappy and fought to the finish.”
Greenville setter Morgan Bloyed finished with 40 assists to go
with four kills and 13 digs.
Meghan Litchfield managed five assists, 13 kills and 19 digs.
Ashley Abbott added nine kills.
Emelie Kilgore chipped in 13 kills, four blocks and six digs.
Hannah Johnson produced six kills and two digs.
Shanterria Riley added 11 digs.
Maygan Bloyed wound up with nine kills and 13 digs.
Freshman Maddy Crabtree added 12 digs.
Erika Patterson finished with two digs.
Greenville’s junior varsity prevailed, 25-17, 28-30, 25-23.
The Lady Lions’ freshman A team won, 25-11, 25-20, and the
freshman B team won, 25-15, 27-25.
Greenville returns to the court on Friday at Rockwall-Heath.
