Lady Lions lefty earns all-district softball honor

Greenville’s left-handed pitcher Rachel Cook earned one of the top honors on the All-District 10-4A softball team.

Cook, a freshman, captured the newcomer of the year award.

Greenville senior shortstop Trinity Ashmore, who led the Lady Lions’ defense and offense, earned first-team honors.

Greenville’s freshman catcher Shelby Doederlin and freshman infielder Vanessa Rico claimed second-team honors.

Royse City sophomore Alicia Pille captured the pitcher of the year award.

Rockwall-Heath senior Chelsey Eddy captured the most valuable player award.

Rockwall’s district champions claimed most of the top honors including offensive player of the year (senior Shelby Frierson), defensive player of the year (junior Amanda Harmon) and coach of the year (Shadie Acosta).

Royse City also put senior Shelby Pille and junior Dezy Arredondo on the first team and senior Julia Zielinski on the second team.
