GREENVILLE -- Greenville’s Lions bounced back from a 10-5
district loss to Richardson Pearce on Friday night to sweep
Dallas Pinkston in a baseball doubleheader on Saturday at John
Mason Field.
The Lions cruised to victories of 17-0 and 18-1 over the
Vikings from District 11-4A. Pinkston dropped to 5-17-1 for
the season while the Lions improved to 6-18.
Greenville senior right-hander Kevin Long fired a no-hitter in
game one, walking none and fanning nine.
Greenville pounded 18 hits in that game, including three each
from Mikey Riskey and Brad Ratliff and two each from Rafael
Sanchez, N.J. Mason, Wade Prigmore, Chase Wofford and Edgar
Bustillos. Kevin Long also tripled for the Lions and Carson
Cummings doubled.
Greenville put that game away with 12 runs in the third
inning.
Greenville pitchers Wofford and Prigmore limited Pinkston to
only one run in the second game.
The Lions jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first inning and
then worked on other parts of their game as Greenville coach
Cody Salyers substituted liberally.
Sanchez, Mason, Ratliff, Wade Prigmore, Long, Thomas Trower,
Jeffery Prigmore, Cummings and Kenny Gilchrist reached base
safely for the Lions in the second game.
Greenville will close out the season at home on Friday night
