Lady Lions nab honors on all-district soccer team

Sophomore Katelynn Twilley, who helped the Greenville Lady
Lions reach the playoffs, shared the midfielder of the year
award in District 20-4A soccer.
Twilley shared the award with Erin McGregor of district
champion North Lamar. The Lady Lions finished second in the
district standings.
Twilley, also named first team at midfield, finished the
season with eight goals and five assists while taking a
team-high 36 shots on goal.
Greenville sophomore Julie Hernandez, who managed eight goals
and three assists, made the first-team offense. Hernandez took
19 shots on goal.
Greenville sophomore Sandra Zaquez earned first-team honors on
defense. Zaquez had one assist.
Greenville senior Lupe Alvarez, who saved 98 shots, made first
team honors at goalkeeper.
The Lady Lions also put senior Sydney Phillips on the second
offense, freshman Bailey Phillips and senior Maci Bradford on
the second team at midfield and senior Alexandra Patterson on
second-team defense.
Most valuable player honors went to North Lamar sophomore
Lauren Stephens while North Lamar’s Kendall Kirk was voted
coach of the year by his peers in the district.
