GREENVILLE -- An eight-run second inning carried the Greenville Lady Lions to a 10-0 victory over Dallas Bryan Adams on Thursday in the Greenville softball tournament.

The Lady Lions went 1-1 during Thursday’s first day of the tournament, falling 4-2 to Lakeview Centennial of Garland.

Greenville’s freshman left-hander Rachael Cook overcame windy conditions to blank Bryan Adams on four hits. Cook did not walk a batter and struck out six.

Trinity Ashmore paced Greenville at the plate with two hits. Rachael Cook, Danielle Cook and Amber Moore also ripped hits.

Lakeview Centennial scored twice in the third inning to pull out the victory over Greenville.

Sam Cobb led the victors at the plate with a double and a home run.

Ashmore, Shelby Doederlein, Katie Threndyl, Kayla Mayes and Amber Leonard all managed hits for Greenville.

Both tournament games lasted only three innings due to a time limit.

The Lady Lions will resume District 10-4A play today at Rockwall-Heath before the tournament resumes on Saturday.
