GREENVILLE -- The J.J. Pearce Mustangs of Richardson pounded
nine hits on the way to a 5-2 district baseball victory over
Greenville on Tuesday night at John Mason Field.
Pearce got things going in the top of the second inning. Sean
Spicer and Hunter Holder, the winning pitcher, both singled
before Sean Noland doubled in both runs for the Mustangs.
Greenville got things going in the fourth inning as Wade
Prigmore doubled down the left field line and then N.J. Mason
beat out an infield hit. Mason then stole second and Prigmore
scored on a delayed steal. Kevin Long then drove in Mason with
a ground-out for the Lions’ second run.
Holder struck out eight and had only one walk as he stifled
the Lion hitters. Greenville only managed three hits against
the right-hander.
Mason Harris pitched the sixth and seventh innings for Pearce
and slammed the door shut.
Greenville dropped to 1-5 in district play while Pearce
improved to 3-3.
