Lions place third in Royse City track meet

ROYSE CITY -- Dijoun Sheppard won the high jump, long jump and 110-meter hurdles to lead the Greenville Lions to third place in the team standings on Saturday at the Royse City Invitational track and field meet.

Battling cold, wet and windy conditions, Sheppard cleared 5 feet 9 inches to claim the high jump, leaped 20 feet in the long jump and clocked a time of 15.77 seconds to capture the hurdles race.

Greenville also won the 4x200-meter relay at 1:35.98.

Cobbie Jonnson of Greenville won the 100-meter dash, nipping Nathan Jeffery of Caddo Mills by .05 with his winning time of 11.35.

B.J. Farrar of host Royse City claimed the 400-meter dash (52.96).

Aaron Gill from Caddo Mills won the 800 (2:13.11).

Rockwall-Heath captured the varsity boys team title with 142 points, followed by Sachse (115) and Greenville (99).

Megan Frausto of Royse City won the long jump (16-1/4), 800-meter run (2:38.07) and the 400-meter dash (1:01.21) to lead Royse City to second place in the team standings. Frausto was also third in the triple jump (32-10 3/4).

Skyler Strahm of Royse City cleared 5-0 to claim the high jump.

Forney ran away with the girls team title with 288 points. Royse City scored 110 to nip Rockwall-Heath by a point for second place.
