Soccer Lions open three-match homestand

GREENVILLE -- The Greenville Lions’ soccer team will begin a
string of three straight district home games tonight against
North Lamar.
Scheduled starting times are at 5:30 p.m. for the junior
varsity contest with the varsity affair to follow at about
7:15 at T.A. “Cotton” Ford Stadium.
The 5-5-2 Lions opened district play with a 1-0 victory over
Sulphur Springs on Wednesday night in a game that was moved
from Sulphur Springs because of wet conditions. Carlos Najera
scored that goal for Greenville.
Greenville beat Paris 2-1 on Friday night as Ryan Wilhelm
scored off an assist from Denim Douglas and Christian Zaquez
scored on an assist from Jonathan Arellano.
Greenville also has home matches scheduled for Saturday
against Princeton and then Feb. 24 against Commerce.
