Lady Lions set playoff date

Greenville’s Lady Lions will open the basketball playoffs on
Monday against the Frisco Wakeland Lady Wolverines.
The Class 4A bi-district contest is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff at
Princeton High School.
Greenville, which is 14-12 overall, finished third in District
10-4A with an 8-6 record. No. 10 state-ranked Rockwall won the
district title at 14-0. Royse City was second with a 12-2
mark. Highland Park grabbed the fourth and final playoff berth
with a 7-7 district record.
Wakeland went 11-3 in District 9-4A to finish second to Frisco
(14-0). Frisco Centennial was third at 10-4. Frisco Liberty
tied for fourth place in 9-4A with 6-8 records.
Greenville dropped its regular season finale on Tuesday night
to Rockwall by a 62-36 final margin. Greenville led 8-0 before
Rockwall got untracked. The Ladyjackets then went on an 18-1
run to claim control.
Returning all-state guard Peyton Adamson paced Rockwall with
31 points and Kayla Kimmons added 14.
Rocio Medrano led the Lady Lions with 17 points, while
Myneshia Crow added eight, Olivia Carter tossed in seven and
Jessica Franklin chipped in four points.
Wakeland finished up district play on Tuesday night with a
47-34 victory over McKinney North. Khristina Clemons led the
Lady Wolverines with 15 points while Haley Texada and Ann
Simmons both added 10 points.
Wakeland will have a height advantage over the Lady Lions,
starting two 6-foot posts, plus two 5-11 wings and a 5-5 point
guard.
