Community claims girls team title at Greenville powerlifting
meet

GREENVILLE -- Kelci Ammerman and Holly Griffin won the two
outstanding lifter awards to lead the Community Lady Braves to
the team title on Saturday at the 2009 Greenville Invitational
powerlifting meet.
Ammerman, who is a three-time state qualifier, captured the
top lifter award on the light platform after winning the
165-pound division with her total of 865 pounds. Ammerman
lifted 315 in the squats, 170 in the bench and 380 in the
deadlift.
Griffin claimed the top lifter award on the heavy platform,
hoisting 325 in the squats, 125 in the bench and 280 in the
deadlift for a 730 total to win the 198-pound class.
Community also picked up victories from Heather McClendon in
the 97-pound class, Rachel Ramirez in the 105s and Amber
Martin in the 123s to total 48 points. Host Greenville, led by
Brittany Davis’ victory in the 220-pound class, finished
second with 24 points followed by Royse City (22), Paris (20),
Farmersville (13), Rains (13) and Terrell (0).
Sulphur Springs turned three firsts, two seconds, a third,
fourth and a fifth place into 37 points to capture the boys
division. Rowlett was second with 25 followed by South Garland
(25), Paris (22), North Lamar (18), Terrell (15), Community
(15), Royse City (12), Greenville (9), Farmersville (6), Rains
(6), Rockwall-Heath (3), Richardson Pearce (2), Mesquite
Poteet (1), Lucas Lovejoy (1) and West Mesquite (0).
James Mayes of Terrell captured the outstanding lifter award
on the light platform after finishing with 1,250 pounds to win
the 165-pound class.
Mac Brawley of North Lamar totaled 1,535 to win the 242-pound
class and also take the boys outstanding lifter award for the
heavy platform.
