GREENVILLE -- A 15-0 run by Rockwall-Heath to end the first half helped the Hawks to a 64-61 victory over the Greenville Lions at the Lions Den on Tuesday night.

Greenville led 28-26 but did not score during the final 3:12 of the second quarter as the Hawks grabbed a 41-28 halftime lead.

Greenville chipped away at Rockwall-Heath’s advantage in the second half, pulling to within 45-42 with three minutes left in the third quarter after Devonte Green scored. But Dustin Morett and Lewis Snowton answered with buckets for the Hawks as Rockwall stayed ahead 50-43 heading into the final quarter.

The Lions battled back to lead 61-59 when Devonte Green drove in to score with 36 seconds left.

But Demi Leonard answered with a jump shot from the corner to tie it for the Hawks with 16 seconds remaining.

The Lions were called for foul with 11 seconds left that brought an objection from Greenville coach Earl Claiborne who was then ejected by an official while arguing the call.

Morett then hit three free throws to seal the victory as Rockwall-Heath improved to 9-14 for the season and 3-3 in district play.

Morett led the Hawks with 26 points and Leonard added 15.

Green topped the Lions with 26 points and Corey Bosworth shot in 16.

The Lions dropped to 1-5 in district play and 5-16 overall.
