Lady Lions, Hillcrest tie in tournament

Bailey Phillips scored an unassisted goal with about 25 minutes remaining to give the Greenville Lady Lions a 1-1 tie with Dallas Hillcrest on Friday in the Lucas Lovejoy tournament.

The Lady Lions, now 2-2-2 for the season, will face former district rival West Mesquite at noon today in the final game of pool play. The winner will advance on in the tournament.

Greenville played without injured goalkeeper Lupe Alvarez. Haley Lawson started in Alvarez’s place.

“The team did a really good job of keeping the pressure off of her,” said Lady Lions coach Ron Beck.
