Rockwall nips Lions, 46-45

GREENVILLE -- The
Greenville Lions jumped out to a 13-1 lead in the first
quarter.
But the Rockwall
Yellowjackets didn’t panic and battled back to take a 46-45
victory in District 10-4A play in the Lions Den on Friday
night.
Rockwall chipped
away at the lead, scoring seven unanswered points at the end
of the first quarter to close to within 13-8.
Then Rockwall
outscored the Lions 7-4 in the second quarter to get within
17-15 at halftime.
The two teams
matched points in the third quarter as Greenville clung to a
26-24 lead.
Greenville appeared
on the way to a victory after opening the final quarter with
nine straight points to build a 35-24 advantage.
But Rockwall rallied
with nine-point run to get within 37-33 with 3:31 left and
then outscored the Lions 13-8 the rest of the way to claim the
victory.
Kyle Sandlin banked
in 25 points to lead Rockwall and all scorers.
Jarrel Nelson topped
the Lions with 13 points while Devonte Green and N.J. Mason
both added nine points.
With the win the
Yellowjackets are now 2-3 in district, while Greenville drops
to 1-4 in district.
