DENISON -- Greenville senior golfer Klint Kilgore fired a two-under 69 to win medalist honors in the Denison tournament on Monday.

Kilgore carded five birdies and three bogeys to claim the medalist title by nine shots.

“He’s playing really well,” said Lions coach Lee Leonard. “He works hard at it.”

Leonard said Kilgore was hitting the ball well and putting “pretty well.”

“He missed a 3-footer for birdie or he’d have shot a 68,” said the Greenville coach.

Kilgore helped the Lions finish third in the team standings with a 354 team total. Host Denison won the tournament with a 338.

Tyler Denton was Greenville’s second-low shooter with a 91. Michael Williams fired a 94 and freshman Payton Palitoski shot a 104.

The Greenville Lady Lions will also be competing today in a tournament in Denison.

This was the Lions’ final tournament of the fall season.

Kilgore led the Lions two weeks ago in a tournament in Bonham with a 70 to finish second among the medalists.
